Radial Shockwave Therapy
McAdam Chiropractic proudly serving the Somerville, Bridgewater, Raritan, Branchburg, Basking Ridge, and Warren areas is now offering Radial Shockwave Therapy!
Radial Shockwave Therapy also called Radio Pulse Therapy and Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT), is the application of a high-energy acoustic pulse which delivers thousands of high- speed impulses into the tissues of the affected area of the body. Each Radial Shockwave treatment works to increase the metabolic activity around the site of the pain or discomfort, stimulating the reabsorption of irritative calcium deposits in tendons. In addition, each treatment stimulates the body’s natural healing process, thus reducing pain. Radial Shockwave Therapy has been proven to help relieve chronic pain associated with plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, shin splints, bursitis, tennis and golfer’s elbow, frozen shoulder, back or neck pain, as well as hip or knee pain.
Radial Sockwave Therapy typically requires one treatment every week for four to six weeks in combination with ultrasound and Active Release Technique (ART) for optimal results. Treatment is carried out by passing over the injured area with the shockwave applicator. The treatments last approximately five minutes and may be slightly uncomfortable, but are well tolerated by everyone. Most patients feel results after the first treatment session.
Radial Shockwave Therapy is an excellent alternative for people with chronic pain who have exhausted all other treatment avenues such as physiotherapy, chiropractic, and massage therapy, and is often a pre surgery option. Radial Shockwave Therapy works without the use of X-rays or drugs.
